Brock Lesnar Breaks WWE Tradition Ahead of Final Match at Wrestlepalooza 2025

Brock Lesnar's Return to WWE

Brock Lesnar made a surprising comeback at last month's SummerSlam and is gearing up for his wrestling career in WWE, showing no signs of slowing down despite recent challenges. His second appearance post-SummerSlam occurred on SmackDown, where he disrupted the United States Title match between John Cena and Sami Zayn, which many believed would be Cena's last match on SmackDown.

Before his television return, Lesnar reportedly deviated from a long-standing WWE custom. Sources indicate that he arrived in Chicago a day prior to SmackDown, breaking his usual practice of showing up on the day of the event to maintain the element of surprise.

During the September 5 episode of SmackDown, Lesnar interrupted the opening match between Cena and Zayn, delivering multiple F5s to both competitors. Following this segment, WWE confirmed that Lesnar would face Cena in the main event at Wrestlepalooza 2025.

Final Showdown at Wrestlepalooza

The Wrestlepalooza event, scheduled for Saturday, September 20th, will usher in a new chapter for WWE, as its Premium Live Events will now be available on ESPN DTC streaming services for U.S. audiences. WWE has officially announced the match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar as the highlight of the evening.

Additionally, the promotion is marketing this match as their last confrontation, stating, "John Cena and Brock Lesnar set to wage war one final time at Wrestlepalooza."

It appears that the renewed rivalry stemming from SummerSlam will culminate in this single match at Wrestlepalooza, with no rematch planned for Crown Jewel in October. Cena, a 17-time World Champion, will have only five appearances remaining in his retirement tour after facing Lesnar.

WWE is expected to announce more matches for the Wrestlepalooza card, including a bout featuring CM Punk and AJ Lee against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, as well as The Usos taking on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. IYO SKY will also compete against Stephanie Vaquer for the vacant Women’s World Championship.
